Heart & Mind: Ideal Friends?

I really love the idea of continuing to teach kids (and adults) that a friendship between their minds and intuition is possible, even when they are "at odds" with each other. I recently read this post by The School of Life called, "What Would An Ideal Friend Be Like?", and realized that the Heart (or intuition) checks all of these boxes. But the Mind too can serve as an ideal friend. It just needs a few adjustments!

When the Mind sticks with what it does best (take action, problem solve based on what it has learned, and learn), it complements the Heart well. When the Mind gets into negative thinking, overthinking, and reacting without catching its negative chatter, that's where the Heart can step in and bring us back to ourselves.

What do you think of the 6 characteristics below (by The School of Life) and do you think Heart and Mind portray these traits?

1. The ideal friend knows how to show weakness⠀

The Mind shares its fears and sorrows while the Heart asks for help when it can't hear itself. ⠀

2. They’re genuinely interested in our sorrows and difficulties⠀

The Heart loves without any judgement, regardless of any weird stuff that may come up. ⠀

3. The proper friend is reassuring⠀

The Mind can act in step by step ways to be helpful in making progress while the Heart's words are filled with compassion. ⠀

4. A true friend helps build our self-understanding⠀

The Heart is filled with unlimited wisdom which can be exposed with the Mind's quizzical tongue.

5. They help us think⠀

The Mind is great at questioning while the Heart points out all the possibilities and opportunities right under the nose. ⠀

6. They help us to like ourselves⠀

The Heart is a cheerleader while the Mind remembers all the reasons to be liked. ⠀
